I put together a Rose Engine Lathe using a $300.00 kit and directions on how to build it. I was successful. I just need more time to play with it. It actually is very cool and I plan to use it to decorate the bases on which I weave my baskets. Should be interesting.

This is an attempt at using the Rose Engine to decorate a circular box. Turn the 'box' on my regular lathe and then take it to the Rose Engine for decoration.

Some photos of the Rose Engine.

It operates with a hand crank and the head rotates as well as rocks. Rocking is controlled by a can on removable/changeable cam on the far left.

The cross slide (on the right) will swivel 360 degrees (though you would never need to do that) and lock in any position. Different tools can be mounted and used as cutters. This mount is a Pro....something (I will get the exact name tomorrow)...
